COMPETITION

ATTENTION PARENTS OF TEENS - "Clean Up Your Room" is a blog site created by Davis parents as a way to connect with other parents. Your input and comments are valued. To leave a comment, simply click on "comments", write in the comment box and click on "anonymous", hit "publish" and your input will be added. Your suggestions for future topics are welcome.

The new topic is COMPETITION. What are the good and not-so-good effects on your teen as they compete with each other for grades, in sports, art, music and popularity? How can a parent encourage competition in a healthy way? What are the signs of being too competitive? How do we support teens that don't "make the cut"?

Upcoming topics may include; ethical parenting, encouraging individuality, media, values and volunteerism. None of us received an instruction manual on how to raise teens , let's get the conversation going and learn from each other!

SUMMER JOBS

Davis Enterprise writer, Julie Rooney, is writing a story on teens and summer jobs and has suggested our new topic. How much money are teens being paid to babysit, mow lawns, work at the pool, etc.? Know of different ways that teens are making money - like pet and house sitting? How much do they make per hour or per job?

Is your teen a budding entrepreneur? Tell us about these business ventures and how the profits are being used or saved for a long term goal. HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!
